How to make your website live

What 'live' means, the checklist to work through first, and what happens after you publish.

A new RentalHalo website is not open to the public yet. Real customers cannot find it or book on it until you publish it.

Why it starts closed

This is deliberate and it protects you. While you are still checking your vehicles and prices, a real customer could otherwise make a real booking at a price you did not mean to offer. Nothing goes out to the public until you say so.

You can still look at your own website at any time, using the preview link in your dashboard. A preview cannot take real bookings or real payments.

Go Live checklist

Work through this before you publish. Each item takes a minute.

  • Business information is correct: your name, what you do, and your photos.
  • Your vehicles are all there, and vehicles you do not rent are removed or turned off.
  • Every price is your real price.
  • Your availability is right: the number of each vehicle, and any blocked dates.
  • Your contact details are correct: phone number, WhatsApp and email.
  • Your pickup location, opening hours and booking rules are right.
  • You have looked at your own website on a phone and it looks the way you want.
  • If you have your own web address, it is connected. This is optional.

Publishing

  1. Claiming opens setup, not publication. Confirm fleet, prices, availability and readiness, then submit for RentalHalo review. Once submitted changes are resolved, open Website in your dashboard.
  2. Look at the list at the top. If anything is still missing, RentalHalo lists it, with a link to the screen where you fix it.
  3. When nothing is missing, the owner chooses Approve publication and accept bookings. Your hosted RentalHalo URL is enough; a custom domain and Google are optional.

If the button is not available, something on the list is not finished yet. RentalHalo will not publish a website that cannot take a booking properly.

What happens after you publish

  • Your website is open to the public at your web address.
  • Customers can make real bookings and pay the Booking Guarantee.
  • Google can begin to find your website. This is not instant. See Appearing on Google.
  • Bookings arrive in your dashboard and by email.

Taking your website offline again

You can take your website offline at any time from the same Website screen. New bookings stop. Bookings customers already made stay valid, and you still have to honour them.
