Appearing on Google

The difference between your website on Google and your business on Google Maps, and what to do about each.

When people say "I want to be on Google", they usually mean one of two different things. They are separate, and you need both.

A. Your website in Google search results

This is your website appearing in the list of results when somebody searches. This is the part RentalHalo helps with.

RentalHalo builds your website so that Google can read and understand it: your business name, what you rent, where you are, and your prices. Once your website is live, Google can find it.

This takes time. Google decides when to visit a new website and when to show it. Days or weeks is normal. Nobody, including RentalHalo, can promise you a position in Google's results.

B. Your business on Google Maps

This is the box with your business name, photos, opening hours, reviews and a map pin. It comes from a free Google service called a Google Business Profile.

This profile belongs to you, not to RentalHalo. It is your own account with Google, and you keep it even if you change website. If you do not have one yet, create one at google.com/business — it is free.

What to put on your Google Business Profile

  • Your business name, spelled exactly as you use it everywhere else.
  • Your phone number, the same one as on your website.
  • Your opening hours, kept up to date.
  • Your website address. Use your RentalHalo website address here.
  • Your business category, for example motorcycle rental agency or car rental agency.
  • Real photos: your shop, your vehicles, your team.
  • Your location, or the area you deliver to if you come to the customer.

How the two work together

Someone searches for a scooter rental in your town. Your Google Business Profile shows them your business on the map. They tap your website address, land on your RentalHalo website, and book. The profile brings them in; the website takes the booking.

Keep everything the same

Use the same business name, the same phone number and the same address everywhere: on Google, on your website, on Instagram and on Facebook. When they do not match, Google trusts your business less and people get confused.

Practical steps

  1. Make your website live, if you have not already.
  2. Create or claim your Google Business Profile at google.com/business.
  3. Complete every part of the profile, especially category, hours and photos.
  4. Put your RentalHalo website address into the profile's website field.
  5. Check your name, phone number and hours match your website exactly.
  6. Ask happy customers to leave a review. Reviews matter more than almost anything else.
